5.Hydroponic Microgreens Planter (HeartSeed)

HeartSeed is a 3D-printed hydroponic planter for growing microgreens on a countertop, designed to make a small act of growing food simple and pleasant at home. I carried this product through every stage myself: conception, prototyping, user testing, fabrication, marketing, and selling.

The project grew out of a broader inquiry into an "artisanal" 3D printing workflow, one that treats digital fabrication not as an industrial process but as a craftsman's tool, adapting it into the kind of hands-on, iterative practice which has been born out of the arts & crafts movement.

The planter was modeled in Rhino 8 and 3D printed in PLA bioplastic on an Ender3, with a reservoir and wicking arrangement sized for microgreens. The final product photos were rendered using Womp3D.
